We have a conscience, the
Source of which cannot be explained away. Logic tells us
that this Source, i.e., God, is not just some impersonal force,
but that He is eternal, immutable, intelligent, powerful,
sentient, infinite, alone, and sovereign. God has instilled in us a
conscience to guide us in choosing between doing right and
wrong.
But, we don't always listen to our conscience
and do what is right. The Bible, which
is the
true Word of God, says that we are guilty in the eyes of
a perfect God, even if we do wrong just once (James 2:10). God loves you and is seeking to have a personal relationship
with you. "In this is love, not that we loved God, but that
He loved us, and sent His Son to remove the barrier of sin"
(1 John 4:10). Our sin has created a barrier that we cannot
remove. Even though God loves us, He cannot compromise His
holy character to receive us.
